Grand Army of the Republic
Redfield is one of the oldest towns in Dallas County and the GAR Lodge is the only remaining building left from the original town located on the original site due to a 1900 fire that leveled an entire block of the downtown area. Built sometime in the 1880s by local men, probably members of the Marshall Post of the G.A.R.
Redfield Railroad Depot
Built in 1889, the Dawson Depot served the passengers, crew, and freight transported on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific rail line. In the 1950s, rail service was discontinued. Today the Redfield Depot serves travelers on the Raccoon River Valley Trail with an Indoor Rest Area, Bike repair station, Information kiosk, Modern restrooms, Water source, Outdoor picnic tables and Historical displays.
