Grand Army of the Republic Open 1-3pm

Open 1st Sunday of each month 1-3pm through October
The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) Post in Redfield, Iowa, is a historic Civil War veterans’ hall. Located at 1213 Thomas Street, the restored, two-story building features a museum on the ground floor and an original post meeting room upstairs, serving as a lasting memorial to Union veterans.
Historical Significance: Redfield is one of the oldest towns in Dallas County, and the G.A.R. Lodge is the only remaining building left from the original town site after a devastating 1900 fire.
The Post: Local G.A.R. posts served as fraternal organizations and advocacy groups for Union soldiers after the Civil War. The Redfield Post was specifically named in honor of Lieutenant Collin Marshall, who died fighting for the Union on July 4, 1863.
Restoration: The Dallas County Conservation Board restored the building to accurately reflect its original 19th-century condition.
