Grand Army of the Republic

Redfield is one of the oldest towns in Dallas County and the GAR Lodge is the only remaining building left from the original town located on the original site due to a 1900 fire that leveled an entire block of the downtown area. Built sometime in the 1880s by local men, probably members of the Marshall Post of the G.A.R.

Redfield Railroad Depot​

Built in 1889, the Dawson Depot served the passengers, crew, and freight transported on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific rail line. In the 1950s, rail service was discontinued. Today the Redfield Depot serves travelers on the Raccoon River Valley Trail with an Indoor Rest Area, Bike repair station, Information kiosk, Modern restrooms, Water source, Outdoor picnic tables and Historical displays.

Hanging Rock Park

Step back in time at this historic sandstone outcrop along the Middle and South Raccoon Rivers. Once a wagon train ford, today it offers scenic hiking, canoe/kayak launch, fishing, picnicking, and shelter in a beautiful park setting complete with an astronomical rock clock.

Raccoon River Valley Trail

Explore 89 miles of paved trail perfect for biking, walking, and outdoor recreation. This premier destination runs right through our community, connecting visitors to the beauty of Iowa’s river valley.

Redfield Dam

Experience excellent fishing opportunities, winter bald eagle viewing along the Middle Raccoon River with canoe and kayak launch and landing. This scenic spot showcases Iowa’s natural wildlife at its finest.

Redfield Historical Museum

Discover our community’s rich heritage, including our role as a stop on the Underground Railroad, through local artifacts, school photos from the 1920s-1990s, and memorable displays that tell our area’s story.

American Legion Saturday Breakfast

Since 1984, every Saturday morning 6 am to 9 am breakfast has been served at the American Legion Hall Post 261 in Redfield, Iowa.  It is a “fill your plate” event featuring sausage patties, bacon, pancakes, blueberry pancakes, eggs, biscuits & gravy, potatoes, coffee, milk etc. for $9 per person.  Just get in line, pay with CASH or CHECK only and someone will take your order down on a ticket and hand you a number. They will deliver it to your table.

Easter Egg Hunt - Spring

Hop on over to the Redfield City Park for Egg-Cellent children’s fun the Saturday of Easter Weekend. Check the Event Calendar for exact date and times.

Old Settlers Celebration - June

Since 1877 this 3-day June festival features a Parade, Craft and Food Vendors, Inflatables & Kids Activities, Bingo, Horseshoes, Saturday Breakfast at the Legion Post 261, Music and family fun that honors our history and early settlers.

Trunk or Treat - October

Halloween fun for the kids and adults! Decorate your vehicle truck for Halloween and bring the candy! Enjoy small inflatables, games and more! Check the calendar for exact date and time.

Winterfest - December

Come welcome Santa in Redfield each December. Enjoy Vendor shopping, a chili cook-off and finish the day with a Christmas Lighted Parade! See Calendar for more details and vendor opportunities.
